Controller Job Description

SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for all accounting, reporting and financial functions. The Controller will partner with the CFO and the senior management team in providing financial leadership and support across all areas of the company including managing and maintaining all processes related to the preparation of accurate financial reporting, analysis and disclosures of the company in line with relevant regulations, internal and external controls, as well as generally accepted accounting principles. In addition, the Controller will drive change and improvement in the overall approach to finance. He/She will instill financial discipline across the Company through the deployment of best practices, improved financial processes and systems, and addressing overall operating efficiencies. The Corporate Controller will lead financial planning and projections for the operating units to include the annual operating plan as well as the monthly and quarterly plans and forecasts. In addition, he/she will oversee the preparation of annual indirect budgets and capital plans including capital appropriation requests to support the growth needs.
We are looking for a professional who can be extremely hands on, wear a lot of hats and jump right into the position.
Responsibilities of the Controller include but are not limited to the following:
The Controller oversees the day to day activities of the finance team and ensures the companies finance function is organized and efficient and produces timely and accurate financial and management reporting while working effectively across diverse operations in a fast-changing and often unpredictable environment;
Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reporting including weekly, monthly and quarterly financial statements, payroll, forecasts, cash flow projections and special analysis;
Adopt best practice accounting policies designed to minimize risk and increase transparency to management;
Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations;
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal and regulatory reporting requirements;
Assist in the development of internal management reporting and statistics that monitor the overall business and represent an accurate reflection of operational realities;
Provide decision-making support and advice to business partners, based on sound financial planning and analysis;
Assist the CFO and senior management in evaluation of new business opportunities, potential acquisitions and business improvements;
Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments;
Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures;
Prepares financial and business related analysis and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital, and investments.
Prepares consolidated forecasts and budgets and analyzes trends in revenue, expense, capital expenditures and other related areas;
Assists with special financial and business related studies and cooperates with other departments in preparing analyses;
Education/
Experience:
o Bachelor's Degree required, CPA required and a Master's strongly preferred.
o Minimum 10 years of accounting and finance experience in essential areas of this job description with proven leadership record.
o Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory control required.
o Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution and engineering industry preferred.
Experience supervising others.

Communication Skills: Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally orally and in writing, as well as direct communication with customers, bankers, and regulatory agencies.
Team Facilitation Skills: Must be able to facilitate team improvement activities spanning multiple processes with diverse teams in various geographical areas.
Special Requirement: The employee may be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, if necessary to meet deadlines. In order to meet job requirements, the employee should expect a moderate amount of travel (Florida manufacturing location).

The Controller will be located in Morrisville, North Carolina. No relocation is associated with this position. Salary range to $100k with benefits and annual bonus.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
