00Job Description The Weekend Maintenance Worker is devoted to providing repair, waste removal, maintenance and equipment operation for an assigned city maintenance or operational function as assigned.
Maintenance workers provide unskilled or semi-skilled general maintenance or waste services based on assignment to any City department or maintenance function.
Team Downtown Raleigh's core mission is to ensure the Municipal Services District is clean and aesthetically pleasing.
All weekend team positions have a 40-hour work schedule of Thursday through Monday from 6 a.
m.
until 2:
30 p.
m.
(April - September) and 7 a.
m.
until 3:
30 p.
m.
(October - March).
As an essential employee, other extended hours are required during special events and weather-related emergencies.
Duties and Responsibilities Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, sometimes under unfavorable conditions Ability to walk short and long distances and lift 50 pounds Interest and ability to provide excellent customer service Ensure Downtown Raleigh is clean and aesthetically pleasing through litter removal, power washing, weeding, graffiti, and sticker removal Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed Primary duties include but are not limited to:
Manual use of broom and dustpan to remove litter and other waste from sidewalks throughout the Downtown area Typical Qualifications Education and
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and one year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignmentORAn equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulationLicensing/Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire Additional Information Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The selected applicant must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate those to other team members as needed Biohazards cleanup responsibility is to respond to human and/or pet waste or other bodily fluids on sidewalks and other public spaces Proper protection, resources and training are provided This position is one of two biohazards' positions for the team.

Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.
); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to intense noise.
