Agriculturist (Staff Scientist)

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Degree in plant pathology; or a related scientific discipline that included at least 20 semester hours in basic botany or plant science, and 10 semester hours in plant pathology. OR Combination of education and
Experience:
Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level) that demonstrates:
Knowledge in the area of plant pathology as it pertains to plant pests of significance to US agriculture and natural resources. Understanding, developing, informing, or applying strategies for the successful eradication, containment, or management of plant pathogens. Leading teams or groups and in communicating with different levels of an organization in order to create a variety of products, such as publications, extension reports, presentations, educational materials. Or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Proficient in the area of plant pathology as it pertains to plant pests of significance to US agriculture and natural resources. Experience developing, informing, or applying strategies for the successful eradication, containment, or management of plant pathogens. Managing project scopes, assignments, budgets, and schedules for multiple projects, facilitating cooperation among team members to accomplish group goals; and performing and managing or directing work in a scientific setting. Communicating scientific information at scientific meetings, working groups, or stakeholders and customers meetings; and tailoring communications to the appropriate group to achieve successful outcomes. This position requires specific coursework or a degree in a specific field to be basically qualified. You are qualifying for the position based on education. This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
