This posting is for position 65034713, which will be available May 27, 2024. This position is designated home-as-duty station, with duties performed primarily in the field and approximately 20% teleworking. Position will serve in Judicial Division III (Piedmont) and travel will be required.

Description of Work
The position will work with Probation/Parole Officers who supervise individuals that are high-risk and high-need who have been placed on probation by the courts, or who are under a period of parole or post-release supervision. Individuals have serious mental illnesses, severe substance use disorders, serious medical conditions, and/or intellectual or developmental disabilities, as well as individuals convicted of sex offenses, domestic violence and other special populations.

This position will establish and maintain effective working relationships with Community Supervision and behavioral health agencies and other stakeholders to promote collaboration and ensure continuity of care for individuals under supervision.

This position will organize and provide regular training for Probation/Parole Officers regarding motivational interviewing, assessing functional abilities, practicing skills sets and other relevant topics.

Position will serve in the Piedmont area. A state-owned vehicle will be provided for work-related duties. Required travel will be state-wide, and may periodically include other states for attending conferences, meetings, etc.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC14. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be calculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability and internal equity. Based on these factors, a pay increase or decrease may result.

The Division of Community Supervision (DCS) is responsible for overseeing supervision of adult offenders on probation, parole, or post-release. The DCS mission is to ensure public safety while helping offenders make positive changes and successfully complete their supervision.
DCS collaborates closely with the NC Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, the court system as well as other state agencies, and community partners, particularly those addressing mental health, substance use, and re-entry issues faced by our returning citizens.
DCS is also responsible for the supervision of offenders who transfer from other states through the Interstate Compact program and has oversight of the Community Service Work Program. During times of natural disaster or civil unrest, DCS provides safety and security services to communities across the state. Probation/parole officers also provide assistance to our local, state and federal law enforcement partners when requested.
Incumbent must possess the following:
Knowledge of serious mental illnesses and substance use disorders and their treatments,
Experience in treatment and aftercare/continuing care planning, and,
Ability to express concepts and information effectively and accurately to different audiences.
Management Prefers:
Knowledge about community, state, regional and national agencies and resources that provide applicable services and supports,
Experience in effectively delivering clinical services and intervention strategies
Incumbent must be licensed or eligible for licensure in North Carolina in the mental health, social work, or counseling fields.
Master's degree in psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling or human services related field from an appropriately accredited educational institution.
Necessary Special Qualification Requirements Must hold an independent license to practice as a mental health clinical practitioner in North Carolina or have met the requirements to be licensed in North Carolina at the associate or provisional level as a mental health clinical practitioner.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
